Breed: Small Male Pomeranian x Tibetan Spaniel
Casper is the ultimate home body’s dog.
Prior to coming into foster care, this little guy had spent all 9 years of his life locked in a backyard with very little human interaction and no dog socialisation.
Despite this, he is reasonably, unscathed – he is enthusiastic about life and loves humans. He has settled well into a family environment and is happiest just laying by his family’s side.
The upside to his sad life before coming into our safe, haven is that he loves and craves human attention. The downside, he is frightened other dogs might take his person away from him and goes into protective mode.
Due to the above, the ideal environment for Casper would be some quiet, rural space or a big backyard, where his adopter would be happy to spend time with him, in Casper’s world. He loves to have you in the garden with him and would suit a person/family who also likes to spend time in the garden. He values company over walks but when walked he would be very happy to avoid other dogs then he knows he really does have you all to himself.
If you are in the garden with Casper he self exercises – he happily runs about collecting things and bringing them back to share with you. He loves to lay on a garden bench, next to his foster carer and have tummy rubs and then a quiet snooze. He loves car rides and travels well. He has an easy-care coat that only requires a weekly brush. He is house trained and waits patiently until you take him outside. He has no identified illnesses and has the spirit and enthusiasm of a much younger dog.
Prior to joining his foster home Casper had not been taught any basic commands. However, Casper is a quick and willing learner, as he just wants to please and be given a pat; he now understands and reacts to a rather large vocabulary.
Casper needs a patient and attentive home, without any young children. He is untested with cats; therefore, we are recommending, no cats.
All in all, Casper will be a loving companion to an adult family prepared to incorporate him into their life. He will do anything for a little bit of TLC.
