Breed: Male Maltese x
Weight: 7.4 kgs
Please note: Gill is looking for an adult family to share his life with.
Gill Harbottle has done it tough in the past but that sweet little boy has emerged who just wants his family to love him. He has spent nearly all his life alone in a back yard. Gill has come to us with some terrible health issues we are currently sorting. He is st ill a rough diamond at the moment. Now he's had his painful teeth out and some of his rear end issues sorted he's feeling a little more comfortable.
Gill has picked up house training really quickly as he is anxious to please and now his back leg is stronger he can take himself in and out through the dog door. Gill Harbottle does pull a little at the start from excitement and likes to stop and pee on LOTS of plants. He doesn't really know any commands yet but would be easy to teach. He probably needs a 30 minute walk a day and then would be happy to sleep the day away.
We would like a home for Gill where he would get all the TLC he has missed out on. He is probably best as an only dog because as he settles with his carer he is beginning to resource guard her. His leg still is a bit of a worry. Xrays show nothing and he has been going to hydro/physio to build up muscle tone.
He is NOT a guard dog - once he's asleep he is out cold. A herd of elephants probably wouldn't wake him. He loves snuggling up in the big dog bed surrounded by teddy bears bigger than him. We are not sure if his hearing isn't acute or he just takes a while to react. For this reason he doesn’t like to be touched when asleep as he is really coming back from a very deep sleep.
He's a little tentative when he meets someone new but it only takes a few minutes for him to warm up to them. Gill's beautiful personality is really starting to shine now that he knows he is safe and loved. He is such a sweetheart.
Gill failed his cat test.
Gill is only suitable for an adult family as if he is worried or surprised he can be reactive.
