Meet Maxie and Varnie, an adorable pair. The only thing they could love as much as each other is a dedicated, doting human companion. They will need their humans to respect their space during their settling in period and give them time to feel safe. Once they feel secure in their new home, they'll make it clear how much they love pats, couch cuddles, attention and playing. Mostly though they just love having their person nearby, so they’d be happiest with a human who is around most of the time.

Both Maxie and Varnie can be a little territorial at home and bark at unusual sounds or delivery people, but training will help with the management of this behavior. Varnie can also be reactive to other dogs while out walking and will need continued training to improve this. Apart from that, they walk well on the lead and absolutely adore their daily walks. They need a human who will commit to one or two walks every single day. Ideally they would be in a home with more than one person as at the moment it benefits Varnie to have one on one walks to improve her dog behavior while walking whereas Maxie is quite indifferent to other dogs.

The pair are house trained although Varnie can be a little timid with new doggie doors and requires some encouragement to settle in. A patient, loving human can easily help her overcome this.

Both Varnie and Maxie are good at basic commands, although Maxie can be a little bit stubborn about whether he chooses to respond or not. He’s an independent young man who has an endearing character to counterbalance the occasional stubborn streak. An experienced dog person will be important for these little friends to learn and develop the social skills and doggy manners to thrive. Maxie in particular has certain things he likes and doesn’t like and will let you know what these are but with your patience and tolerance he will wind his way into your heart.

This pair is best suited to a home without cats or other small animals and no small children. They want to be the centre of your world. We are looking to home Maxie and Varnie with a household of least two adults.

Prepare to make room in your heart and on your couch for Maxie and Varnie Wordsworth.
