NB: We do not rehome interstate or to applicants under 25. It is our policy not to rehome dogs in the Sunraysia area. As rescue groups have transported thousands of homeless dogs from Mildura and Sunraysia pounds over the last decade, we do not intend to send any back there.

Smoochy Stella is a total sweetie. With a heart of gold, Stella is looking for a relaxed home with big dog loving people who enjoy giving and receiving hugs and affection. New into our care, Stella has so far shown that she is a total softie, enjoying pats and belly-rubs, snoozing on the couch and getting out and about to stretch her legs and sniff the local smells. Stella is housetrained, calm around the house and good on lead, although she can pull a bit when something catches her interest. While she travels well in the car, she does appreciate being given a boost to get in, so it would be great for her to be with people fit enough to be her human hoists!

Stella has had some controlled interaction with the cats in her foster home and has been okay with them but has had not been left unsupervised with them. Since being in care, she has had brief contact with various other pups and is relaxed unless another dog is carrying on at her, when she needs to be redirected so she doesn’t get stressed. Given her lovely temperament, this should be easy to correct with some rewards-based training to help her develop her connection with her new people; simply because of Stella’s size and this need, she will be best with someone with big dog experience. We have not yet tested Stella’s tolerance for being left at home on her own. While she is relaxed and non-destructive about the house, given her affectionate nature, we think Stella would prefer having people who are home more often than not or someone looking for a canine buddy to take to work.

Stella is pretty adaptable and will be thrilled with any home where she can love and be loved, gets a couple of good sniffy walks a day, and has plenty of company either at home or as someone’s work wing-dog. Some further training would be a great way for Stella to ‘blue tooth’ with her new people, and toys and puzzle feeders that give her a good mental workout would be a great bonus. This gentle big girl is just waiting to give the right person or people her hugs and heart. Could you be Stella’s North Star?

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. All necessary vet work such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment is also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
