NB: We do not rehome interstate or to applicants under 25. It is our policy not to rehome dogs in the Sunraysia area. As rescue groups have transported thousands of homeless dogs from Mildura and Sunraysia pounds over the last decade, we do not intend to send any back there.

Have treats, will follow

Lovely Luna is new to the Vic Dog Rescue crew. What her carer has told us after her first couple of days is that Luna is sweetness personified. She is calm and loving with people, comfortable being handled and enjoys trips in the car. This snugglepot is a world class napper, happy to sleep in her bed near you through the night, and snooze in sunny spots throughout the day. She is housetrained and good about going out, but has not yet worked out the role of a doggy door in her foster digs.

Luna has some minor skin irritations and stiffness that we are having assessed by our vets. She does not seem to have learned basic commands yet, but is keen to please, extremely motivated by food, and young enough to learn. Indeed, training Luna is likely to be a mutual exercise in joy. Luna is more couch potato than athlete and, while she enjoys sniffing the outside world and is calm when out and about, she is not particularly enthusiastic about walking. This may be who Luna is, or may be related to her current health or a sign that she needs to build some confidence on the lead with some rewards-based training. Either way, we suspect Luna will prove to be a pretty low-energy girl, happy with gentle strolls and play, along with human company and naps (did we say she likes naps?). Luna is not yet tested with children or other dogs, but shows a friendly and calm demeanor at home and on walks.

Luna will do best in a home where she has regular company, affection, snuggles and lots of good places to nap. True to her breed, she will need access to climate controlled indoor environments, particularly during hot weather. We will update Luna’s profile as we get to know her better. If she strikes a chord in your heart in the meantime, please get in touch.

Health Notes: Luna has some minor skin irritations and stiffness that we are having assessed by our vets.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. All necessary vet work such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment is also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
