Meet Basil, a lovable and affectionate boy looking for a forever home!

Basil is a smart and cuddly companion who enjoys a good snuggle after a fun walk. This friendly pup gets along well with other dogs, though he hasn’t been tested with cats yet. Basil has excellent recall, and he understands sit, stay, wait and will walk to heel. He knows how to use a dog door, but needs to be reminded to go out to toilet before bed.

Basil is a happy, adaptable dog, however he can be anxious and fearful in new environments and meeting new people.  He really doesn’t like going to the vet.  He has also shown some tendency to resource guard his high value items – toys and toilet rolls.  When he is feeling this way he will growl, snap and try to bite.  He is easily distracted though and will happily move on when called to look or do something else.  Once you recognise his cues, and with some patience and reassurance, Basil will thrive. He is best suited to a loving, calm, adult only home, where he can feel safe and secure.  He has been living with our foster carer’s dogs and they get along well so another dog is fine.

If you’re looking for a loyal companion, please fill in the application to express your interest in beautiful Basil.
