Check out this video of the adorable Bear:
While this boy has got the looks, beauty is more than skin deep! Cuddly Bear is a delightful young pup whose family circumstances have changed and left him in search of his forever people. A smart and happy boy, Bear enjoys the company of his people and has loved playing with another resident dog while in care.
Bear is already housetrained and makes it through the night without an outdoor trip. At night he sleeps well in a closed crate inside and during the day has access to a big backyard. Bear loves an evening walk with his carer and a chance to explore the world and practice his training. Like most pups, he also enjoys chewing and exploring with his mouth, although has shown happy willingness to be redirected to his toys and healthy snacking choices. Bear is a smart cookie, who is picking up commands while he has been with us and will benefit greatly from training and all the rewards this brings both dog and owner(s). In foster care, Bear spends a lot of time outside in his large backyard chasing birds and butterflies and snoozing on his outdoor couch. While he prefers having people around most of the time, he is comfortable home alone when his foster carer is at work three days a week.
Bear may not have had a lot of exposure to the outside world in his formative months as he tends to pull and bark at other dogs when he is out on lead. This behaviour is usually a sign of undersocialisation, and Bear will benefit from being with confident pack leaders who commit to helping him be the best boy he can be. Rewards-based training that helps Bear build his confidence and understand his boundaries will bring a world of joy to both Bear and his people, and help this super-model become a model citizen. Group obedience training would also give Bear new skills and controlled opportunities to be around other dogs that he does not know. Puzzle toys that encourage problem solving and help Bear burn mental energy, as well as play time and a short walk a day will keep him fit and healthy.
Bear would enjoy living with a confident and kind mature (but not senior) dog, subject to appropriate introductions. He would love to have people around more often than not, but will no doubt be able to adapt to the routines of his household, provided these include plenty of time together, another dog for company, and attention to his needs for exercise and social activity.
Bear is not tested with children or with cats.
Thank you to Nick Harry for the fantastic photos of Bear.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. All necessary vet work such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment is also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
