NB: We do not rehome interstate or to applicants under 25. It is our policy not to rehome dogs in the Sunraysia area. As rescue groups have transported thousands of homeless dogs from Mildura and Sunraysia pounds over the last decade, we do not intend to send any back there.

Young sweetie ready to shine.

Sweet puppy Bella finds herself in need of new people due to a change in her humans’ circumstances. At eight months old, Bella is 22kg, so we expect her to be a larger-sized medium dog. Bella is friendly with humans and dogs alike and currently lives and plays with two cats. This smart girl is house trained and used to being inside, and taught herself how to open a door to get in and out of her family’s yard.

Bella enjoys daily walks and opportunities for play time with other dogs. She walks best on a harness and, while okay on lead, her baby Staffy enthusiasms would benefit from some loose leash training. Bella travels fantastically in the car. At home, Bella sleeps in her crate overnight. While very friendly, Bella is a little anxious at times and appreciates having access to her safe space during the day. Still a puppy, Bella can chew on things she shouldn’t when she is anxious and her humans are out. She is already showing signs of growing out of this and is responsive to redirection, particularly where she has other outlets for chewing and mental stimulation. Bella has shown some tendencies to be protective around her food, snapping at the resident cats and a visiting dog when they come too near her treats. For this reason, Bella is probably best being rehomed with adults only or a family with older dog-savvy children, and being the only dog in the home. She has cohabited very happily with cats and with well-supervised introductions, could do so again.

With further training and regular exposure to new experiences, Bella’s confidence will grow. Given her friendliness, smarts and captivating Staffy grin, Bella has the potential to be an outstanding canine citizen. She is looking forward to finding forever people who will help her shine.

Medical Notes:

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. All necessary vet work such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment is also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
