Bella is a sweet, affectionate soul who loves people and chooses closeness: couch cuddles at night, quiet naps on a dog bed while you work, and gentle pats when she’s feeling a little unsure. She’s curious in the house and yard, and is a cozy homebody at heart. She is happiest hanging out with her humans and pottering around, though she still loves her walks and time outside. In the morning, Bella greets her people with a wagging tail, often with a toy in her mouth, ready to start the day together. She brings a lot of joy.

Bella is calm to low-medium energy and currently enjoys morning and evening walks. She gets excited when it is time to head out and enjoys meeting people along the way. She can also be friendly and sociable with dogs when out and about, so walks with Bella can be a lovely way to make friends. At home, she prefers to keep her human/s to herself, and will tolerate some hours alone rather than share her space. Occasional visiting dogs have been manageable with careful supervision and clear boundaries, such as feeding separately and keeping food and toys tidied away.

At home, she enjoys toys, retrieving games, snuffle mats, treat puzzles and other enrichment activities that keep her mind engaged. Puzzle toys where she can “hunt” for treats are perfect for her little brain. Food-motivated and eager to please, Bella remains keen to learn and responds well to positive reinforcement. She is responsive when called by name, comes back well when off leash in suitable areas, and is easy to handle when it is time to clip her lead back on. Bella’s progressed a lot and understands basic commands now. She knows cues such as “sit” and “to your bed” and thrives with gentle guidance and routine. Bella is toilet trained and can use a doggy door.

Bella Valenti has been through a lot medically since coming into care, and she has handled it all with remarkable sweetness. She has seen a cardiologist for her heart murmur, had surgery to remove a ruptured eye, and recovered well. She has also had a mammary lump removed with good margins and will need ongoing monitoring. Bella uses eye drops in her remaining eye morning and evening, which she accepts easily.

Bella is looking for someone who values companionship as much as she does. She does not need endless exercise or constant entertainment; she simply wants to be part of your everyday life.

Bella would thrive in a quiet, predictable household with a solo person, couple, or family with respectful teenagers who appreciate a loyal companion and a slower pace of life. Because of her reduced vision, she can occasionally be startled by sudden movements, loud children, or unfamiliar situations in the dark. She does best with calm handling, consistent routines, and an environment where she feels safe and secure. Bella prefers walks to car rides but accepts car travel when needed.
