Billie and Fergus are a bonded pair. They are two calm and lovely natured dogs and have obviously been adored family members. Sadly, their beloved person passed away. They have been well socialised and used to go to doggy day care three times a week. They can play rough with each other, but not with other dogs.

Billie is a three year old female black and white Staffordshire Bull Terrier cross & Fergus is a two year old male tan and white Bull Arab cross.

The dogs have been in temporary care for around a month and get on well with the temporary carer’s Labrador. They were initially confused with their new situation but settled relatively quickly. The three dogs all eat together and play together well. Fergus will whine if separated from Billie.

Billie and Fergus have similar energy levels, chilled out when at home and love going to the park and the beach have a good run around and then mainly sleep during the day. Neither currently walks well on leash, they pull in excitement and if they see another dog will pull on leash wanting to say hello. We have started with a trainer for them and their carer to teach them loose leash walking. They travel well in the car.

Both dogs are desexed, house trained, love cuddles on the couch, will bark if they hear strange noises and if someone comes to the door. Both love the beach and Billie loves to play in the sea.

Some differences between the two:

At the park Billie would rather play with a ball than other dogs. She will steal balls off other dogs. Both have good recall except Billie when there is a ball around.

Both love a bath, but Fergus is not keen on a shower, but he’ll let you wash him.

Once they met a donkey, Billie was calm and stood sniffing nose to nose with the donkey. Fergus wanted to chase it.

They haven’t lived with cats though being calm dogs a calm, dog-confident cat may be suitable but would need to be introduced slowly and appropriately.

Would you love two beautiful dogs in your life?  Dogs that will thoroughly enjoy an outing and then chill out at home with you including a cuddle on the couch please? Fill out the application for Billie and Fergus! A successful initial application involves a meet and greet with the two.

We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
