NB: We do not rehome interstate or to applicants under 25. It is our policy not to rehome dogs in the Sunraysia area. As rescue groups have transported thousands of homeless dogs from Mildura and Sunraysia pounds over the last decade, we do not intend to send any back there.

Cutie patootie alert! This young girl is ADORABLE.
She is new into our care, but this is what we have learnt…Callas (Calli) Gallucci is a walking heart.
She LOVES people. All people.
She has the most adorable butt wiggle and is an incredibly affectional and loving dog.
Our foster carer says: “She is the most friendly and affectionate dog we have had and that includes our dogs. She is absolutely lovely.”
And SMART! In just two days she has learned how to use the puppy door and sit. Given the right training she will learn quickly.
Calli’s person had health issues and needed to rehome her. We don’t know everything, but we know that she slept outside, has already had a litter, so possibly used for breeding, wasn’t taken on walks and is overweight. However, given her preference for being held and wanting to go on your lap., it looks like she was loved. Just not exposed to the outside world and socialised with other dogs, which explains a few things.
Calli is a work in progress and is still very young (about two years), so has some teenager energy. But we believe given what we’ve seen and where she has come from, she has so much potential to be an EVEN better dog than she already is (and as we’ve said, she’s pretty good already).
- Toilet: She is partially toilet trained and pees on puppy pads (mostly). She can use a doggie door. A bit more training and she will be fine as she is really smart.
- Lead walking: She has started to walk on a lead and is pretty good for a dog that was never walked. She doesn’t really know what to do but isn’t scared. She is a curious and happy girl.
- Lap dog: She ALWAYS wants to be on your lap or held and jumps up on you. This will require training. She is slowly learning this in her foster home.
- Other dogs: She has not been around other dogs until now and it will take time and slow gentle introductions to dogs on the street over a period of time for her to develop confidence, good doggie manners and not become reactive. We are not saying she is reactive (we don’t know that yet), but she needs to be introduced to other dogs slowly. She is currently living with 3 other dogs, and it is going quite well given that it is very early days. It was a bit intense at first and she was pretty stressed, but there were 3 of them and after two days, she seems to have settled. She doesn’t really know how to play yet, but she is a sweet and happy girl and we think she will get there.
We are still learning about her, but her ideal home looks like wherever there are people to love her and be with her and put in some training time, as she is still young.
She would make such a great companion for someone who is home a lot and wants lots of cuddles or a family (probably older children as she jumps), where the attention can be shared.
She doesn’t bark when people come to the door, so may suit an apartment.
She just wants to love you and you won’t be able to resist as she is SOOOO cute.

Medical Notes: healthy girl
All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. All necessary vet work such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment is also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
