NB: We do not rehome interstate or to applicants under 25. It is our policy not to rehome dogs in the Sunraysia area. As rescue groups have transported thousands of homeless dogs from Mildura and Sunraysia pounds over the last decade, we do not intend to send any back there.

Dexter is a three year old 49 kg boy who is chipped as a mastiff cross. He has a charming sophisticated nature (although he can be the occasional goofball) and never causes a fuss or begs for food.  He enjoys his walks for  20 or 30 minutes at his own slow pace on his walks but loves a good run around in the garden too.  He is fantastic with other dogs and loves a good play but he is protective of his food and bones.   He would not be suited to live with an energetic dog.

Dexter is easy going overall but also incredibly lazy.  He also smiles when you return home – you can’t beat that!   He can be a little shy with people initially but warms up quickly.

He does need someone strong to walk him as he loves to try to approach every dog he sees on his walks although his carer is working on this.

We brought Dexter to Melbourne believing he would need a double hip operation however the orthopedic specialist assures us this isn’t the case.  He will most likely manage his whole life with just pain meds when he has overexerted himself.

Dexter has such a lot to offer the right person who can understand that he has been born with an issue that limits his activities a little – but not his charm!

Weight: 49kgs

Microchip Number: 991001001630543
Source Number:  RE120211
Medical Notes: Dexter  has been born with some malformation of his bones that sometimes causes him pain.  He can be a little stiff standing up and sitting down. But on our visit to the orthopedic specialist we were told that he will most likely be fine for the rest of his life with just the occasional pain relief meds required.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed, flea treated and if over 12 months heartworm tested.
