Finn is a beautiful, smart and friendly boy looking for a long-term relationship with people who understand him. In his short time in care with us, Finn has shown himself to be keen to connect with his people, following them around before settling nearby for a nap. He responds to some basic commands and definitely has the smarts to learn more, but will need some patient guidance on house rules (what, I can’t check out the kitchen bench?) in his new home. He sleeps well through the night, currently in his carers’ living room. Finn is reliable about toileting outside when given the opportunity, but we are not sure he has been taught how to ask to go out. He thinks being in cars is unnatural and will need reassurance and slow introductions to travelling.
Out and about, Finn is very interested in, if occasionally wary of, the world around him. He is a strong boy who will need some time invested in his lead training and learning to focus on his handler, as he can get very distracted by the all the sights, sounds and smells. Finn is currently living in a rural area, where he is probably a little too excited by the sights of local chickens and livestock. We have also learned that Finn is not a cat pup! He is not yet tested with other dogs.
Beyond his gorgeous exterior, Finn is living with anxiety, for which he is currently taking medication. He is a young and active dog, but whether his anxiety is cause or effect of a lack of life experiences, he will need some support to fulfil his potential. Training, mental stimulation and games that help Finn build his confidence and concentration will help him grow into his paws, with the added benefit of forming mutually rewarding bonds with his people.
Finn will do well in a calm adult home with dog experienced people. While probably not farm material, he will do best in quiet suburban environs, preferably with a decent yard where he can burn off some energy. Finn is new into our care and we will update his profile as we get to know him better. If you are interested in Finn and can offer him the life he needs, he would love to hear from you.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. All necessary vet work such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment is also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
