Max is a true best friend. He is all about loving his people and spending time with them. Max loves to potter around the house and garden with you and will keep you company no matter what you are doing. He is fully house trained but he does dribble wee when he is anxious or when he is unwell so in his early days at a new home this can be seen, but it does settle and cease. Max also wets his bed some nights but is happy to wear a belly band during these times At night he can also use Vet Bedding that is washed once a week, a waterproof mat is placed under this and a blanket on top. These are changed every second day.
Although Max is nearly 16 he loves life to the fullest after being confined in a 2X2 metre pen in squalid conditions for years.
He just needs more naps through the day. A lovely morning walk always starts the day off well. Max is gentle on the lead and ignores all distractions, happily pottering along smelling the trees and plants. He is a gentleman when in shops, enjoying a good sniff around, and doesn’t even try to take the opened, available food on the reachable shelves.
Max has kidney disease. This is being fully managed with a very easy to organise diet. He has some old man aches and pains that he takes medication for and has a bit of a home massage to help keep at bay on these colder days. Despite having a heart condition, his cardiologist says he is in fabulous condition. Max’s health issues have been stable for over 12 months whilst he has been in foster care. We believe that Max is just so happy to be living a regular doggie life that his passion overrides all his challenges.
Because Max is so devoted to his people he does need them to be with him more often than not. He doesn’t mind if you take him with you, as long as he has a comfy spot to snooze in. Max is not interested in sharing his home or people with another dog, although he doesn’t mind having a cat around.
With the right person we would discuss permanent foster care with VicDRG paying the vet bills.
Could you be Max’s special person? He has been waiting his whole life for you!

Medical Notes: Max has kidney disease. He has had a recent dry eye diagnosis.
All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. All necessary vet work such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment is also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
