Do you have room on your couch for a senior lovebug?

Meet Murphy, a sweet, loving ten-year-old Cavalier who is settling into care after a big few weeks.

Murphy’s beloved person recently moved into care and, through no fault of his own, this gentle little soul has found himself looking for a new person to love. He’s feeling a little uncertain right now, but underneath is a warm, affectionate boy who isn’t asking for much, just a soft spot on the couch and someone to potter around with.

Murphy would thrive in a calm home where he can settle in at his own pace and build his confidence. A peaceful environment with a predictable routine will help him feel safe and allow his lovely personality to shine through.

We’d love to see Murphy with someone who is home most of the day; a retiree or someone working from home would be his ideal match. He can manage some time on his own (he’s a dedicated napper who may not notice you’ve gone), but having spent his life as a companion dog, he’d love to brighten someone’s days all over again.

Murphy would be happy sharing his home with calm, respectful older children who understand gentle handling and giving a senior boy his space. He’s also met his first cat in care and has been perfectly content sharing his space with her. He could live with another dog, but we may give preference to an only-dog home as we’d love to see this special boy cherished as the centre of someone’s world.

Now for the practical bits: Murphy has a heart murmur, low vision, and reduced hearing, all sadly common in older Cavaliers. Like all senior good boys and girls, he can also show signs of reduced mobility. He’ll need a home committed to staying on top of his veterinary care and keeping life calm and predictable. He doesn’t let any of this get in the way of a good time, and he gets around just fine in his own gentle, unhurried way. We’re currently working with our specialist vets to make sure Murphy is feeling his very best.

One final thing: Murphy snores. If sweet doggy snoring ASMR sounds like your kind of soundtrack, Murphy may just be your perfect match.

Murphy is looking for that special forever home to treasure him through his golden years; somewhere quiet, loving, and close to his favourite human. If that sounds like you, we’d love to hear from you.

Microchip Number: 956000004487505
Source Number: RE120211
Medical Notes: Murphy will be seeing the cardiologist in June. Then he is going to need a grade 4 dental to bring him up to scratch. Sadly we can’t do much for his hearing or sight.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. All necessary vet work such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment is also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
