Sweet Rosie is an affectionate and curious young dog who is on the lookout for her forever pack. Housetrained and relaxed around the home, Rosie enjoys being close to her people (hugs, anyone?), the chance to stretch her mind and paws, and receiving with gentle joy all the food she is offered. Once she packs up for the day, Rosie is quiet as a mouse until after 7am and is currently sleeping on her own with indoor outdoor access in her carers’ home. In care, she has proven to be reliable when left home alone for a few hours, as long as she has a bone or chew toy to occupy her. Rosie is comfortable travelling in the car, although she likes some reassurance when she is getting in that the pesky door isn’t out to get her. She has also shown herself to be a polite host to canine house visitors once properly introduced. Rosie is not tested with cats and, true to her retriever genes, somewhat over-interested in birds.
Rosie is a smart girl who has missed out on some early experiences and training. She knows how to sit but arrived in care with no other basic commands and limited experience walking on lead. Reflecting some early under-socialisation, Rosie is also very reactive on lead, anxious and vocal when she sees other dogs when she is on lead and sometimes when she sees them off lead in the distance. However, when she meets dogs off the lead (not many so far) she seems to be pleased to play. Rosie has also shown signs of being a little possessive of her carer, but we monitoring and working on this. Luckily, Rosie is smart, friendly and food-motivated and has shown herself to be relaxed in canine company at home. So, with the help of her carers and some tips from our trainer, she is quickly making positive progress. With consistent rewards-based training, details of which we can share with her adopters, we are confident Rosie will overcome these early gaps in her learning and realise her full puppy potential.
Rosie is looking for a person, couple or family who love Lab x love and are able to give her the attention and routines she needs to grow her confidence and skills. She is a young and healthy girl who will thrive with regular exercise, mental stimulation and consistent training and positive reinforcement. She will need some space to play and opportunities to stretch her lanky legs. As long as she has plenty of people-time and regular walks, Rosie may be okay being left for a few hours while other pack members work and play. We are not yet sure whether she will live happily with other dogs. Rosie is new into our care and we will update her profile as we get to know her better.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. All necessary vet work such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment is also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
