NB: We do not rehome interstate or to applicants under 25. It is our policy not to rehome dogs in the Sunraysia area. As rescue groups have transported thousands of homeless dogs from Mildura and Sunraysia pounds over the last decade, we do not intend to send any back there.

Shari is an exuberant and extremely affectionate 12.5-year-old girl who was sadly surrendered by her previous family through no fault of her own.

She just LOVES pats and cuddles and will snuggle up on the couch, press her head against your chest and look up at you with such love. She just wants to be wherever her humans are – she is quite the little shadow and needs a lot of attention.

She tends to potter alongside her foster sister (small terrier mix) rather than try to interact with her but will look at her and give her the odd lick, which is really endearing.

She is good with human visitors to the home, is very friendly and invites plenty of pats, but hasn’t experienced other dogs visiting her foster home. She walks very well with a harness and lead alongside her foster sister, however, on walks she does become reactive to other dogs passing by and it’s unclear whether this is a playful or protective response. In addition, she is yet to be tested around cats.

Shari recently had a large cyst on her neck removed, is currently being treated for an infection in both her ears and is only able to hear loud voices and sounds. It is unclear whether this will improve once she recovers from the infection.

Shari does need clear boundaries set, particularly around food and when her humans are cooking as she can be quite the bench surfer. She does understand hand gestures such as a palm stretched out calmly to indicate for her to sit, stay still for her harness and collar to be put on, etc. Baby gates have been used in the kitchen while cooking which has been extremely helpful and ensures a safe environment is maintained.

She travels well in the car and sleeps very well on her dog bed at night. Her foster carer doesn’t currently have a doggy door, but Shari has been using pee pads during day while her carer is at work. In saying that, it is not clear how she would go outdoors unsupervised.

Shari’s ideal home would be one with quite an active person(s) or family who will give her lots of attention and cuddles while continuing to maintain boundaries. She really is a beautiful, affectionate and special little girl who will be a wonderful addition to the right family.  They will be incredibly privileged to have her in their life/lives.

Microchip Number: 956000008383068
Source Number: RE120211
Medical Notes:   Shari’s vetwork is ongoing.  She still needs a dental and a mass on her neck removed.  Possible SNS in eyes.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. All necessary vet work such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment is also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
