NB: We do not rehome interstate or to applicants under 25. It is our policy not to rehome dogs in the Sunraysia area. As rescue groups have transported thousands of homeless dogs from Mildura and Sunraysia pounds over the last decade, we do not intend to send any back there.

Please note: A recent CT scan has shown that Wilbur most likely has pulmonary fibrosis, or westie lung disease as it is known.  On that basis Wilbur’s life will no doubt be much shorter than expected. It is sad for Wilbur that he could not stay with his person but what we would like to do now is find Wilbur the best home where he will be happy and cared for. Yes there will still be an adoption fee but we will be involved with the adopters in the follow up required. We get many old and ill dogs. We have found from experience, that sometimes they pass on more quickly than we hoped, where others outlive their expected longevity.

Wilbur is a handsome and friendly boy.  He has been well loved however his family circumstances have changed, and he is now looking for a new home.  Ideally he would like to be an only dog with his people around to wait on him during the day.

Wilbur is very affectionate and a big fan of cuddles and belly rubs. He does like to follow you everywhere so you need to like this trait. Of course he is house trained and is happiest alongside his humans, preferring to sleep by their feet.

Wilbur loves a good bone and his soft toys, especially his chicken, which he likes to carry around the house or backyard. He enjoys going for a walk, particularly on a stretch lead.    He also has a stubborn streak and can dig his heels in midwalk and refuse to move!

Wilbur does tend to be anxious which leads to some barking, particularly at twilight and evenings. He has been on some anti-anxiety medication for this. He responds well to redirection and reducing stimulation but still needs some training in this area. Wilbur knows some basic commands and is responsive to training. He is highly motivated by his favorite treat carrots!

Okay and one more item – Wilbur will need good quality food or he is prone to flatulence. He will often fart, then jump up in surprise and look around sniffing, to see where that nasty smell came from. It does provide a little comic relief.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed, and flea treated. All necessary vetwork such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment are also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
