Ricky is absolutely beautiful. He has settled in so well, as if he has always lived here. He loves the other dogs so much, they are inseparable. All three dogs are extremely chilled and I think he loves that. Our biggest concern was how the three would get along but they seem to have one big thing in common. They enjoy walking the whole boundary of our backyard together. He absolutely loves to run across the backyard at full speed too. He is enjoying going for a walk twice a day and loves his cuddles.
We spent the last week teaching him that we have turns. Three treats, sit and I will say your name before giving you one. His learnt. I can walk up to one and give a big cuddle, and the other two dogs know to wait. They sit wagging their tails knowing that no one will miss out and there is no need to come over and interrupt. This is always the first thing we teach our dogs. And Ricky loves it. He also likes routine, waking us up the same time every morning licking our faces. Knows exactly when breakfast and dinner time is. And looks at the leads when it’s time for a walk.
We can go shopping and leave him and he is happy, I think because he has the other two dogs to chill with. I know our lab Wilson was surrendered because he was always locked outside so he barked all day. He still needs us or another dog around to be content. Ricky has started playing with Wilson, chasing each other and wrestling. This is a first for Wilson too.
It’s a bit of a squeeze with three decent sized dogs and John on couch
. At night Ricky would rather sleep on the couch than in his bed. Lying on his back with all four paws in the air. So cute.
Ricky loves living here, it’s a joy to watch him run across the yard and roll on his back. Having many rescued dogs before him we were expecting some issues but he has been better and easier than we had hoped for.
