We just wanted to let you know that Billy passed away just before Xmas. He had been ill for about 7 weeks. He first began suffering seizures in early November and our Vet thoroughly examined him, including CT scans and found that he had some masses in his liver, most likely related to his previous testicular cancer. We treated his seizures fairly effectively with medication and in the last week or so anti nausea medication assisted with his vomiting. He was still reasonably active right up until the last week or so. Last Tuesday Billy became incredibly lethargic, our VET checked him over and was happy he was in no pain and able to come home. She thought he could keep going another few days. Whilst initially happy Billy became increasingly shaky when walking, slept 90% of the day and ate enough. Saturday he was unable to walk and could only muster a minor tail wag.

He was a gorgeous boy – just an absolutely delightful member of our family and very much loved. He very quickly became attached to us all, loved a rub and a cuddle, a long walk (until the last few weeks), a nice chicken neck and a relax on his favourite couch. Although he only lived with us for 8 months, we felt that Billy had been with us forever and we miss him terribly.

We’d just like to thank you for allowing us to give Billy the opportunity to become a member of our family. Such a sweet, gentle dog who fitted in so easily. He helped us all navigate lockdown with his cheery disposition and his love of a good time, and then a four hour sleep!! Billy was 13 and 3 months when he passed – a decent age but we wish we’d met him earlier and been able to spend more time with him. He is buried in our backyard so he stays close to us all always.
