Our Beautiful Charlie went dancing over the rainbow bridge (chasing many many tennis balls we believe!) 6 months ago this week. It’s taken me awhile to write this because every time I have gone to, I have been flooded with tears.

My sister and I adopted Charlie just before she turned 11, back in 2014 when we were living together in St Kilda. She was a big, beautiful ball of love (as most labradors are!) and we knew from day one she would be with us and live out her days as our lovely forever dog.

For reasons I will never understand, people dump their pets, sometimes after many years of having them as part of their family. How people do this to senior dogs, I’ll never know. What I do is that the world is a better place for having rescue groups like Victorian Dog Rescue, to clean up the sad mess people leave behind when they do this.

We will be forever grateful to Trish and the wonderful volunteers for bringing Charlie in to our lives. Charlie lived out her last two years with me here in Perth, soaking up the sun, eating her favourite food and chasing tennis balls.

If you have ever considered adopting a dog, consider adopting a senior. They have so much love to share with you and I promise it will be the best thing you ever do.

Goodbye our beautiful Charlie Horse. We will love you forever.
