Thank you for providing Lizzie (Destiny) to us for the twelve years or so we were fortunate enough to have her.

We went away for three weeks last August for our first ever (and probably last) trip overseas and when we returned we discovered Lizzie was unwell and had severe liver failure, hepatitis, etc. The pathologist said it was likely she had been exposed to blue-green algae, poison mushrooms or some variety of canine infectious hepatitis from wildlife – although they said she couldn’t have that as she would have been immunised against it. Anyway after several days in a veterinary hospital here receiving a full gamut of treatments she slowly recovered and her liver returned to a near healthy level. We are still in the dark as to what happened but she was staying on a farm while we were away so there may have been an opportunity for some toxin to be present.

We have been extremely appreciative of the extra time we have had with her since then and tried to make the best of it, keeping her loved, happy and well looked after.
