Missy (previously known as Sharra Nightingale) left VicDRG in 2023.  She had come to us with a leg problem which an operation and lots of hydro really improved. Everyone said what a great dog, and she is – and so are her adopters who write below.

“We adopted our gorgeous girl Missy two years ago. Since her adoption she has covered many kms travelling in our car and sleeping in a caravan with us and loves it as much as we do, as she is with us and we are with her. She does have some camping K9 buddies that she goes away with at times and this makes for a great fun time.

Missy is a hit in the neighbourhood too, both with the humans and dogs. She has daily visits at our back gate, which opens onto a reserve, from many regulars who still comment how gorgeous she is. She has sussed out who will give her treats if she says hello to them. She greets you vocally, with her tail clearly indicates to us if it is friend (the wiggle wagging tail) or foe (the scorpion tail).

A very happy and cuddly girl is our Missy, she always makes her presence known as she will put a paw, lean against you or sit on you. When she wants to be playful she will give an air high five.

Missy is not really ball orientated, although she has been seen on several occasions to sit on another dogs ball or quietly place her paw on it to hide it from the other dog.

When Missy first arrived, she was scared of many things and wasn’t a fan of young children. With exposure and reassurance she has improved significantly. She has learnt to trust us when we tell her “it’s okay”.  She has even spent a weekend away with small children which has been a wonderful improvement.

We are so happy to have adopted Missy and we do know she is too. It is pretty obvious by the way she vocalises, wiggles and presents us with a squeaky ball when we come home after even the shortest outing.
