I think you could describe little Toffee as an absolute success story! The detailed information from his wonderful foster carer, and the care taken by your rescue organisation meant that we felt we were making a great choice in matching this little character to our needs and welcoming him into our home! He and Rigel have become firm friends and they are even learning to play which is an interesting dynamic with Rigel being around 22kg and Toffee only 5kg. It’s heart warming to watch as Rigel tries not to “tug of war” too hard for fear of flinging Toffee across the room 🙂.
Toffee is still sometimes an absolute teenager with his sass and cheekiness and can occasionally try to boss Rigel around. Rigel, however remains unfazed. Toffee loves the country life and big yard, the “chicken channel” is one of his favourite pastimes, watching the hens in their yard with fascination. He has met all the grandchildren and is an absolute sweetheart with them.
I continue to work on his leash reactivity to other dogs and he is improving all the time, though it is definitely a work in progress. On walks now, when asked, he falls into heel and looks up at me with those bright eyes as if he is asking “Am I doing it right?” Toffee (nee Tommy Albright) has become a much loved member of our family. Matthew, Rigel and I feel absolutely blessed that he has come into our lives. Thank you for the continued work that you and your organisation do.
