NB: We do not rehome interstate or to applicants under 25. It is our policy not to rehome dogs in the Sunraysia area. As rescue groups have transported thousands of homeless dogs from Mildura and Sunraysia pounds over the last decade, we do not intend to send any back there.

Breed: Pippa Female Wolfhound x Beagle, Maple Female Wolfhound x
DOB: Pippa 8/6/07, Maple 6/2/12
Weight: Pippa 18.2 kgs, Maple 22.5 kgs
Location: Aberfeldie

Note: Maple and Pippa are small wolfies – about 22 kgs each. They do look larger in their photos.

Maple is the gentlest of girls. She is very happy to chill on the couch, nice soft doggy bed or right by your feet as you work or watch tv. She is also a beautiful shadow who will happily follow you around the house and garden. She is a big and I mean BIG fan of belly rubs and chin scratches. If you stop or are near her and she’s in the mood for some she’ll sweetly lift her paw to touch you, just to let you know that you can. Food is another favourite of hers. She eats up all her dinner and sits so nicely for you to put her bowl down of before any treat.

Like so many other rescues she has had some rough experiences in life which has given her some anxiety. She is quite wary of men, sudden movements and loud voices. She relies on her mum Pippa a lot for comfort and reassurance. She is currently living with a foster mum and dad and she is starting to be excited to see her foster dad come home and when he offers her pats. Maple is on medication for her anxiety and has come very far.

Pippa is Maple’s mother and age does not hold her back at all! She leaps up onto the couch with ease and handles the stairs at her foster home quiet well. Sometimes she’s a bit tired and will wait and ask her foster carers to help her up. Her foster carers have come to affectionately call her ‘mum’. She has had a better experience with life and just loves people, dogs and kids. She is content to snooze of the couch while you are busy around the house but she’ll let you know when she thinks it’s time for a walk. She talks a lot! Being mostly deaf doesn’t stop her having a conversation with you. She loves her food and treats too, and both Pippa & Maple are always up for a cuddle. Like Maple, Pippa is a shadow dog and will trot after you, gently bumping her nose in the back of your leg.

Both walk well on a lead. The start of a walk can be a challenge for Maple with a lot of movement around. When scared she’ll stop in her tracks and keep watch on whatever it is that has her worried. Her foster carer has been working with her on walks and all it takes is some calm patience, staying close to her so she knows she’s supported, and once she’s ready to walk again we’re off! Pippa is very easy going and is happy to wait and have a sniff.

They both do well with meeting other dogs. Pippa especially loves to say hello. Maple sticks closer to her foster carer until she’s comfortable. Maple does tend to want to chase smaller dogs and we feel she’d be the same with cats. Therefore we’re seeking a household without them.

Both are house trained and are delightful company. They have so much love to give to the right person/home.

Source Number: RE120211
Medical Notes:  Maple is now on medication and she is starting to become more active and involved in what is going on. Both dogs, especially Pippa, are a little wobbly in the back legs, and only just tolerate the three steps at their current foster care home. They are both on 4cyte.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed, flea treated and if over 12 months heartworm tested.
