Little Moet was surrendered by his family as they had no time for him, to the Lost Dogs Home, who is turn passed him on to another shelter. He misbehaved there as he wasn’t a happy camper and then on to us.
He was so happy in his new home but sadly he woke up one morning paralysed and despite every effort nothing could be done. The cause is unknown.
His lovely adopters are devastated.
“It has broken my heart, and I am struggling to write this email, even now, as the tears block out my keyboard.
When our vet was informed, he came in, again on his day off. He was at a basketball game for his son and left to assist us in our time of need.
It just shows us how special little Moet was, to have that respect shown to him and also to us as a family.
He confirmed that indeed Moet was at the stage that we did not have an option but to say our goodbyes to him.
That night the extended family came to our home for dinner as we mourned our loss collectively.
His bond with Nala (our Spitz Pom) was unshakeable. They made the perfect pair as our companion animals.
Nala is struggling too, looking to try and find her good mate. That in itself is difficult to watch, but heart-warming in its own sense.
It meant he belonged.
We might have rescued Moet, but he rescued us right back, and it will take a long time before we, as a family recover from losing this little man.
Our patrons at the cinema have overwhelmed us too in sending us condolences.
Moet was a much-loved community identity and left with the love of so many people.
Thank you for giving us the privilege of having Moet as part of our family.
It seems cruel to think it was only to be a little short of three years with us, as we expected him to live a full and happy life.
We must now reflect on the wonderful life he did have with us, and the joy he gave us too.”
