NB: We do not rehome interstate or to applicants under 25. It is our policy not to rehome dogs in the Sunraysia area. As rescue groups have transported thousands of homeless dogs from Mildura and Sunraysia pounds over the last decade, we do not intend to send any back there.

Breed: Female Dachshund/cross
DOB: 07/11/2023
Weight: 5.9 kg
Location: Prahran

Little Lila spent her youth as a breeding dog and is now due for her own happy tale. Lila is very affectionate with her people and loves to snuggle up on the couch and tuck her head into your shoulder if she can. Like all sensible beings, she also enjoys a good tummy rub! Lila loves being on lead beside her person and enjoys a couple of short walks a day so she can smell all the smells and feel the breeze beneath her ears.  Or if you are into longer walks she would love to accompany you on those too.  At home she is pretty chilled, sleeping on the couch or her bed in the living room, and relaxing without fuss when left indoors alone for a few hours. She is a loyal girl, attaching quickly to her person or people.

Lila gets on well with other dogs but is not reliable with cats and pocket pets. While she has been trained to toilet outside with permanent outdoor access, she will need gentle encouragement to learn new house routines.  Lila is in generally good health, although she can get a bit itchy from time to time, which is easily addressed and we can discuss with her adopters.

Having had some rough early experiences at the hands of a male, Lila prefers women as her pack leader(s). In care, however, she has shown she will share her love around after a couple of days of settling in. Out and about, Lila can be a bit nervous of men, but she is great at taking guidance from her handler and walking on by.

Lila will do well in a calm adult home with a single or couple who are able to give her love,  routines and gentle exposure to new experiences. She could live happily as a solo pet or with another polite dog. Lila would be fine in a working household, as long as she has exercise, mental stimulation and quality time with her people when they are home. If you have a Lila-shaped hole in your world, she is ready and waiting to fill it.
