HAPPILY REHOMED
Miss Missy, the firecracker snuggle-bunny, is looking for her forever-ever home. But not just any home, Missy needs to find her true match.
Do you enjoy walks? Missy does, too!
Do you love other dogs? Missy does, too!
Do you like to cuddle on the couch? Missy does, too!
It’s impossible to capture Missy’s sheer beauty, personality, or her small size on camera, or even the way she sometimes looks like Dobby, standing on her hind legs with her dainty paws resting.
So let us tell you all about this dazzling girl!
Everything is two-person job to Missy. If you’re putting on your socks, she wants to sniff them. If you’re changing the bed sheets, she wants to help. Did you breathe too loud? Playtime!
Missy would thrive with a (preferably) male doggy companion to interact with while her humans are working, choring away, or washing her winter jackets. It will give her a companion to play tug of war with, which is apparently the best game in the whole wide world.
But Missy isn’t always in play mode. She is loving slow, cosy mornings that go something like this: waking up in the crate, time to go potty outside, wipe paws, have breakfast, find human, cuddle human for an hour or two. She is very intuitive girl, and will pick up her new routine quickly, and will adapt.
The best approach to Missy is to see her as a puppy in need of guidance and training, but one that has a bunch of knowledge already, including house-training. Lucky you!
Missy has moved around a lot since she came from a rural pound after she was surrendered through no fault of her own. Now in her long-term foster home, she has come to life. Missy brings a smile to everyone’s face, whether she is rolling around on the floor to show how happy she is, lifting her dainty paw as she politely sits & waits for her dinner, or burrowing under blankets for snooze time.
Missy likes other dogs & adult humans. She is so perfectly house trained that she won’t even use a pet-porta-potty or artificial grass.
Missy is still working on the long leash. Her foster mum recommends not taking Missy off-leash, as she can become too hyper-fixated and not quite hear her commands in that mode. She can get herself distracted with all the smells and sounds of the outside world—and in that overwhelming buzz, the human calling her name is background noise. This is one of the reasons darling Missy is working on her impulse control! At only 3.5 years old, she is still a bit of a puppy and must continue working on her ‘wait’, ‘stay’ and ‘leave it’ commands. Missy now knows these commands and enjoys their use during play, which then helps her when navigating the outside world.
With her foster mum, she is also working on remaining calm in exciting times, like the start of walkies, by redirecting her excitement onto a toy or walking away. Coming from a rural place, Missy has really taken to the brighter things of suburban life, like drive-thru coffee shops (because they give out treats), pet shops where she can sniff all the things, the local botanical gardens, and she loves her car rides!
Once Missy has bonded with her human, she will show off how amazing she is with commands.
Missy has worked on a lot with her foster mum, and stolen hearts along the way!
From foe to friend, Missy can now watch birds through the window, hear noises from next door, and communicate all without barking! Consistency from her forever human is imperative for Missy to thrive and continue making progress into being the star she’s meant to be!
The nitty gritty details:
Missy is a noise-sensitive girl, and will not settle into apartment/unit life. While she has been successfully working on noise sensitivity in a shared-wall unit environment, Missy is just a generally happier, calmer girl when there is not a lot of neighbour-noise, because she comes from quiet rural life.
The ideal home for Missy is child-free, as she does not know how to play gently with smaller humans, and can get overexcited as she is still learning.
It is absolutely best that Missy has another dog in the home to play with and keep her company. She also needs a secure garden for sniffs and toilet (must be real grass). The bigger the better, but she has been doing well in a unit and small courtyard at her foster home. Missy also must have regular walks, and has been doing 30 minutes twice a day, once in the morning and again in the afternoon/evening, with a playdate or beach/creek walk on the weekends.
Diet: Prime100 loaf (she is a picky eater, so must stay on this food).
Missy does well with children (10+) who are dog savvy and know/respect dog boundaries.
Missy’s humans should continue positive reinforcement.
Missy needs winter jackets for outdoors and for indoors as she is short-haired, and the winters are far too cold for her to go without. She has a jacket for outside time, and one for indoors/bedtime.
Located in the Geelong Region, why not apply to meet Miss Missy and let her dazzle you!

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. All necessary vet work such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment is also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
