Do you need an adorable helper to get all your jobs done? Help making the bed, tying your shoelaces, working on your laptop and even assisting you as you get dressed. Then Walter would be perfect for you.

Walter is a sweet, sensitive little guy with big puppy energy and an even bigger heart. He’s playful, affectionate, and adores his people – he follows them everywhere and prefers to sleep nearby. Walter is a goofy fun loving puppy with a tail that wags constantly – his butt wags with it when he is happy and when he is super happy his whole body wiggles.

Walter is learning that the world is a safe place, and he’s coming out of his shell more each day. Walter loves his fur family. He checks on them if they bark or growl or whine. When he gets back from his walks he bounds in the door, running to say hello to any dog that didn’t come with him. He does seek regular play with his fur family. This can be high energy. Walter is still learning his interaction manners, but he responds well to be told by his fur family.

He’s incredibly gentle and sensitive. A calm, kind voice is all it takes for him to understand and adjust his behavior. Walter’s puppy energy is very much present— he loves two walks a day, he’s playful, loves fetch, and is currently obsessed with toys (and, cheekily, buttons on clothes!). He’s also an excellent little fly and butterfly chaser!

He loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with a calm doggy friend. Walter is house-trained (with occasional marking) and walks beautifully on lead. Walter is very smart and knows waiting – to stop at the cross roads, yuck to stop sniffing or drinking what he has found, waiting to not cross the door or gate boundary even if it is open. Okay is his free word when he is waiting, drop is for anything he has in his mouth he needs to let go. Walter loves spending time with you training and he would benefit from this.

Walter has the theory, if it flies I tries to chase it. You cannot be precious about your garden, Walter does like to bury some foods, does love to wander through the plants, will jump sometimes land on the plant when he tried to catch butterflies or bees and can eat the plants and flowers. His garden must be plant safe for him.

Walter is a bit nervous in new situations. Walter used to be terrified of children, but is growing in confidence with interacting with children and when he is out on his walks. His foster fur sibling has really helped him in this space.

Walter is a strong chewer and seeks things to chew, he knows what he isn’t allowed, but it doesn’t mean he doesn’t try every now and then. He has strong Kong and Kong balls to play with as he will destroy the others. Walter does have a sensitive tummy and needs some foods throughout the day to maintain comfort and good bowels. Walter is not a traveling buddy due to his car sickness.

Walter needs a home with another calm but playful dog, a good backyard to play and explore in and no pocket pets or young children. He thrives with someone home most of the time – he’s not suited for long hours alone.

With patience and love, Walter will be an incredible, loyal companion.

Microchip Number: 956000018428012
Source Number: RE120211
Medical Notes: Walter has grade 4 heart murmur. He has his heart operation scheduled with the cardiologist on the 16th June. Then we have our fingers crossed he will be bouncing around after a fortnight’s rest.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. All necessary vet work such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment is also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
