Little old Mac ended up at a pound as a senior. Rotting teeth, very sore in back legs and collapsing, heart murmur, nearly blind. While with us he had all the teeth removed, xrays of his spine and legs, visit to Melbourne eye vet to check inflammation from his cataracts and his left eye removed because of glaucoma. Mac LOVED life. He was with our foster carer Kathi for about 4 months then he went to the best home with previous adopter Angela where he was loved and catered for every day of his life till he died less than a year later.
From Angela: “I have very sad news to share. Sweet little Mac passed away on Sunday night. He declined over the last week and rapidly deteriorated on Sunday (not eating or drinking, unable to walk and incontinent). We took him to the emergency vet and had to make the heartbreaking decision to let him go. He passed away peacefully in my arms as he crossed the rainbow bridge.
I know he will be so happy to see Trixie (my RWL foster that passed in March) as they adored each other. I’m sure Janie and all our other fur babies were waiting for him too.
We are all heartbroken but taking comfort he is no longer suffering. I have contacted Kathi to let her know and to thank her for taking little Mac into her home and heart and for nursing him back to health after his eye operation. He was so lucky to have her love and dedication as well as you advocating for him. We are forever grateful you chose us as his forever family.
We only had 9 months with him but he was adored and loved by us all and will forever be missed. We will especially miss his twirls and nudges. Vale Mac…aka Macaroni, Little Mac and Maccy Boy.
