NB: We do not rehome interstate or to applicants under 25. It is our policy not to rehome dogs in the Sunraysia area. As rescue groups have transported thousands of homeless dogs from Mildura and Sunraysia pounds over the last decade, we do not intend to send any back there.

Meet gorgeous Coco, a beautiful soul who is new into our care and discovering, perhaps for the first time, that the world can be a wonderful place.

Coco hasn’t had the easiest start in life, and she is still learning to trust. She takes a little time to get to know new people and needs someone who understands that confidence can’t be rushed. But underneath that gentle, sensitive nature is a super-smart girl with so much love to give.

Coco is discovering all the simple joys of being a dog — spending time outside, feeling grass beneath her paws, enjoying fresh air and taking in all the wonderful new sights and smells.

She is learning basic commands and is eager to learn when she feels safe and supported. Once she trusts you, Coco loves nothing more than a cuddle with her person, gentle playtime and, of course, a good belly rub.

Coco is also learning about other dogs and would particularly benefit from the companionship of a small, active dog as she loves to play.  Having a canine friend beside her would provide security, guidance and confidence as well as she continues to discover the world. She would love a friend she can play with and learn from.

Her ideal home will:

– have another small, friendly, playful dog to provide companionship and confidence

– give her time and space to settle in and build trust

– use gentle, positive training and redirection

– be patient and understanding of her sensitive nature

– help her gradually experience all the wonderful things dog life has to offer

– be committed to helping her become the confident girl she is capable of being.

Coco may not be the dog who runs straight up to you and throws her paws around you on day one. But for the person willing to patiently earn her trust, the love of this beautiful girl will be incredibly special.

She has already started to discover that the world can be a good place. Now she just needs someone kind enough to show her.

Medical Notes: Coco has Optic Nerve Hyoplasia (blind in her left eye). She does also have a problem with her back/leg and hip that most likely will just need care as she gets older.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. All necessary vet work such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment is also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
