NB: We do not rehome interstate or to applicants under 25. It is our policy not to rehome dogs in the Sunraysia area. As rescue groups have transported thousands of homeless dogs from Mildura and Sunraysia pounds over the last decade, we do not intend to send any back there.

Candy is a 12 year old pocket rocket who came to us as an unclaimed stray in a pound.  When family were contacted their circumstances did not allow them to take her back. She is curious about everything and loves to potter about in the garden. Initially she was wary of men but our foster carer has had renovations so she has had plenty of opportunity to overcome this. Candy is very gentle and affectionate – definitely always on the lookout for a lap to cuddle into. She gets on extremely well with her golden retriever foster sibling and there is absolutely no guarding of food. Candy is not interested in toys. She walks well on lead although can pull a little with excitement at first but as she weighs only 6 kg it’s not a problem.

Candy’s only problem is on lead or behind a gate she is very reactive to other dogs so walks in parks are probably not a good idea. However when introduced politely and calmly on lead, she is absolutely fine with other dogs.

All in all Candy is an adorable little girl who is a wonderful companion.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. All necessary vet work such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment is also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
