NB: We do not rehome interstate or to applicants under 25. It is our policy not to rehome dogs in the Sunraysia area. As rescue groups have transported thousands of homeless dogs from Mildura and Sunraysia pounds over the last decade, we do not intend to send any back there.

Breed: Male Maltese cross
DOB: 09/08/2008
Weight: TBC
Location: Elwood

Bruno is a sweety pie and a reluctant surrender. He came to us filthy with matted fur and had to be shaved (hence the short ‘do’ in his photos). You could see him rubbing his ears and whining because he was in discomfort but still his sweetness was evident. He’s now had several procedures to clear his infected ears but he’d still prefer it if you scratch his back or chest rather than around his ears.

Bruno is always happy to see you, ecstatic to go for a walk and loves a treat, but ultimately he’s a couch boy. He loves sitting with you and will snuggle up next to your leg so his back lies against your thigh. Or, when he’s allowed, Bruno will happily sit his two front legs across your lap.

Though he loves to have people around, he doesn’t need constant pets. Just having you around is what Bruno wants.

Bruno is a vocal little man and has quite a few different noises… squeaks, whimpers, growls (even when he’s happy!). They all mean something slightly different but it’s fairly easy to learn ‘Bruno speak’ (as his foster carer calls it). The most hilarious noise is the contented growl he makes when he’s getting a good back scratch or is doing rolly polly on the rug. He doesn’t bark incessantly but he does bark when he wants something, eg. more pats please, another treat please, you’ve picked up my leash, lets go

Bruno loves going for a walk, and he walks well on a loose leash.  He’ll match your pace, and he’ll stop and wait if you stop. He barks at other dogs while out on walks and is very friendly with new people he meets.

Bruno likes the idea of the car. He walks excitedly towards the car, puts his paws up to be put in, or jumps in himself but then when the car starts going he whines and pants becoming very stressed. As soon as he gets out of the car he’s back to happy again instantly.  This could involve experimenting with where he likes to sit to find a way to settle him, or using a calming medication till he gets used to it. But if you are taking long trips he probably is not the dog for you.

Bruno is a good sleeper, sleeping the night through. He’s a clever dog that could learn to use a doggy door. And he’s happy, endearing with a fun little personality. Interested in a lovely little companion dog? Please fill in the application.

All our dogs are desexed, C5 vaccinated with intranasal, microchipped, wormed and flea treated. All necessary vet work such as dentals, surgery, eye treatment is also carried out. We are no longer heartworm testing as we have not had one positive test since we began in 2006. If a dog comes to us on heartworm treatment this is continued.
